Uncle Tai Solarin
It looks incredible for me not to have fallen victim of the stingy nature of an Ijebu indigene, right from my primary school days till this present moment, whoah! Can’t still believe it. The most ridiculous aspect of it, is the general believe in the world today, that if a man has three (3) children and one of them marries an Ijebu person, then that child is counted lost, so the man is said to have only two children.
Another quote goes thus “if a man (human being) marries an Ijebu spouse, he or she will forget his or her home”. It was said that Ijebu people are the most stingy tribe of people, they will rather die of hunger. they don’t spend their hard-earned on themselves, talk-nothing about giving people anything. the world (by this, I mean children of the children of the children of the great, great, super great grand-children of certain people in an almost forgotten past, who have had varying degrees of experiences, mostly unwholesome with Ijebu’s) has come to tag Ijebu’s as stingy, fetish and all sort of doomed adjective.
“Ijebu people doesn’t lunch out money like that i.e (they don’t live la-dolce-vita) they spend for a purpose”OGUNYALE TOYOSI OMOSHOLAPE~
It is high time I corroborated the micky-moused statement uttered from the mouth of some ignoramus trying to belittle the integrity of Ijebu’s dignity. At this juncture you can collaborate to calling me all sort of names perhaps an iconoclast; fine, we need to puncturing to pulverizing in-order to demystify some attributes that seems insurmountable, because, I as a person will never concur with the level of incivility pasted on the Ijebu’s.
Look at the likes of Uncle Tai Solarin (permit me) who gave his life and not just his money for the advancement of the course of humanity.
Chief Obafemi Awolowo
Chief Obafemi Awolowo needs no mention regarding what he also did for humanity. Hmmmmmm. Obafemi Awolowo University (O.A.U), Cocoa House and free education (not only for his children but the children of his nation NIGERIA). What better way to be generous that this? If you are being skeptical, his wife is still alive at her home town in Ikenne, kicking, after years (more than 20years) of Pa Awo’s exit.
(MD and CEO GLOBACOM)
What of the M.D and C.E.O of Globacom? The one and only proud owner of the only ever profitting telecommunication in Nigeria, “Na Ijebu man o”. Hmmm, a philanthropist and an astute business man. Glo with pride eyin omo Ijebu. Lolzzzzzz………zzzzzz.
At this point I close the curtain on this particular scene that as an enlightened generation, we have to hope in ourselves and cultivate a good omen to the unborn generations, to make history out of story and dance to the tune of life’s music. If only you can convince an illiterate “IGEDE” man that knowledge is power, then you are highly welcome to the world of my discovery to convincing my incredulity towards given a parsimonious attribute to a whole metropolitan area of IJEBU. If you can’t, then accept it, that, to be mean, is an individual disaster.
